Hemiandra pungens 'Purple Leaved Snake Bush'  - 10x Seeds

Hemiandra pungens purpurea is a prostrate groundcover with fresh purple, pungent leaves and a mass of mauve flowers over the summer months. Thrives in an open and sunny spot, and is very hardy and drought tolerant plant making it suitable for coastal and limestone areas. Grows to a width of 2m.

Seed Starting Method

Hemiandra seeds come in a range of sizes from very tiny to a few millimeters. As a general rule Hemiandra seed should be sown to the depth of the seed. 

Although most Australian native/ endemic seed can be sown throughout the seasons across Australia it is advisable to sow in Spring or Summer in colder regions. The optimum temperate to ensure the best possible germination rate for sowing many Australian native/ endemic species is around 18-22°C.

Seeds of many native/endemic species require specific conditions that mimic their natural habitat or specially formulated seed treatments, to break dormancy. 

Do not be to quick to discard pots that haven't yet shown signs of seed germination. Seeds will often lay dormant until conditions are optimal and will produce amazing results, long after they have been forgotten.

Pre-treatment of smoke is recommended for most native species.

Research shows that many members of this species are responsive to pre-treatment of smoke, which mimocs an Australian bushfire. Although germination will may occur without smoke treatment it has proved be beneficial in reducing the number of days to germination and increasing germination rates of this species.

Smoke treatments are simple and can be undertaken by applying to the surface after sowing.

A notebook that stands up extremely well to bad weather and harsh working conditions

Now that I've used this notebook, I can't see myself using any other kind. I travel a lot and need a notebook with me at all times. At 4x6 inches this fits in my cargo pocket without a problem and gives me plenty of writing space. If you are going to carry the notebook in your front pocket I'd suggest the smaller 3x5 version. The ruler on the back page was not something I thought about but has come in handy several times. No, this is certainly not the cheapest notebook available, but it is a reasonable price for a high quality product. If you are using this for field work, it is probably worth the cost. My work notes are certainly more valuable to me than the couple extra bucks spent. And really, how often do you fill up a notebook? I only go through one every month or two so it's not very costly. You cannot use gel type pens with this notebook, only normal ballpoint pens or pencils. I suggest using a Fisher Space Pen, it works very well with this notebook (also available on Amazon Prime for under $10)
